This is the day that never ends Aug 17
What a trip this has been!
Friday morning began early (might I say very early?) with a 7:45am
call for the bus trip from Ottawa to Stratford. My fatigue may have
been somewhat due to the late night before that involved a group of us
having a bar opened for a private party at 1:30am! This is a completely
different story, however.
As usual, I claimed my back row - window seat in the bus with the
extra legroom. I'm afraid that I am becoming a bit of a social hermit
on the bus trips as I rely on them for sleep. I never grew out of
falling asleep in cars when I was little.
After about six hours on the bus, we arrived at the gorgeous home
of Paul L.'s sister who had graciously and generously offered to
provide a mid-trip pool party! It didn't take long for people to jump
in the pool (and jump, and jump... nothing like cannonball contests
with 40 men...). The weather was completely ideal, and the food was
tasty and much-needed.
This was followed by another couple hours on the bus to take us to
Stratford, Ontario - the home to the infamous Stratford Theatre
Festival and Stratford Music Festival. We checked into our hotel (I
feel so spoiled on this trip - we have had such great hotels and food
the entire time), and had another little rest.
Russell, my brother, and I had tickets for the late show - a
Cabaret at 11:30pm for the after - show crowd. So after a late dinner,
five of us went to the Church restaurant (a converted gospel church)
for the Cabaret. The show was a 'best of' the previous Cabarets which
included a New-York style lounge singer, a Noel Coward routine (I went
to a
Marvelous party), and a Beatles tribute group.
After the concert we ran into the fabulous head of Stratford
Music, John Miller, and had a quick chat about our upcoming concert. A
quick stagger home, and it was another late night!
I just wish we had another week of early mornings and late nights!!
See you all very soon!
Spencer
