The final dash
So, here we are nearing the end of our tour - just one concert to go, in Stratford for the Summer Music Festival.
Today was kinda murky weather-wise, so many of us took the opportunity to catch up on a few ZZZ's.
That gave me a bit of time to think about what we had achieved during our trip:
* I had spent time with some guys that I had rarely spoken to. To me, that is always a good thing, as everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - has a story. Admittedly, some are more interesting that others but each is as valid as the next;
* I had finally managed to master the lyrics to "Sure On That Shining Night". Nothing like getting them right on the very last concert of the tour, especially when we had sung the thing for months as it was included in the Bard on the Beach shows!
* I had visited parts of the country I had never been to, especially Ottawa, which surprised me completely;
* We had recorded a live concert that is of such great quality that listening to it gave me goose flesh;
* Sometimes, we sing pieces and for us they are just the same old thing, but for others they are an awakening. I can still see the face of the young girl in Quebec City who was glowing as we sang Ave Maris Stella, and the man who had his eyes closed as he listened to Immortal Bach in Ottawa just waiting for the final resolution so that he could breathe again, and the lady at the Museum of Civilisation who knew all the words to everything we sang. Thanks to all of you, and to the many others, for showing us your souls.
The Stratford concert was another success. The audience was great.
It is over.
