Chor Leoni to Compete in CBC Choral Competition Finals April 30

We are thrilled to announce that Chor Leoni has advanced into the national finals of this year's CBC National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs in the Contemporary Music category. This is a competition-wide category and competitors must perform works composed within the past fifteen years. The other finalist is Lady Cove Women's Choir from Newfoundland.

On April 29 & 30, 2008, the finalists will perform in  'live-to-air' concerts presented across Canada specifically for Choral 2008. In B.C. these performances will be from 3 - 6 pm (PST) at Ryerson United Church.

Chor Leoni will sing sometime just after 4:30 pm on Wednesday April 30. Admission is free and we'd love to have you in our audience cheering us on! You'll find a list of all competitors (there are several Lower Mainland choirs in the finals, singing on both Tuesday and Wednesday) here.

Unable to join us at Ryerson? Then listen in over the internet!

If you are unable to attend in person, tune in via the internet. Our friends at the CBC have provided the following instructions on how to do so:

1. Go to http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/
2. In the right column, click on any of the five time zones of 'live' streaming audio and turn up your computer's speakers

For instance out here in BC if people were unable to attend the performance at Ryerson yet wanted to hear the broadcast in "real time", they could listen to the Atlantic audio stream to hear all choirs singing 'live'.  The broadcasts begin at 3 pm (1500 hrs) both days so fans on other continents just have to factor in the time difference - but, they also have 5 audio streams from which to choose.
