Besides musical aspects such as how to develop good intonation and musical phrasing, this workshop will explore some of the more ephemeral aspects that lift a Chor Leoni performance from ‘concert’ to ‘experience,’ from a performer/listener situation to a choral conversation. Lunch provided following the workshop for participants to enjoy refreshments, fellowship and share their experiences. These are just some of the Canadian favourites Chor Leoni Men's Choir will feature when they take to the stage as part of Stratford Summer Music's Sounds of Canada Choral Finale. While the choir's first love will always be the classical repertoire, Canadiana holds a special place in the choir's repertoire and collective hearts. The choir's first CD of such material, Canadian Safari, was released in 1998 and is Skylark Records' top-selling CD, while the choir's follow-up CD, Canadian Safari 2, released in 2004, is into its third pressing. This concert will feature tunes familiar to audience members as well as new folk songs mined from the richness of our Canadian heritage. This unabashedly flag-waving programme promises wonderful tunes familiar and new, toe-tapping rhythms and comedic turns. Chor Leoni will have you singing along, smiling - and perhaps wiping a tear from your eye. Join Diane Loomer and Chor Leoni as they travel across Canada in music. This being a Chor Leoni show you can be assured it will be an adventure full of unexpected delight! |
