Artistic Director Diane Loomer C.M. created Chor Leoni in 1992. Her vision: to build a choir that would carry on the esteemed tradition of men’s choral singing and create adventurous new musical experiences for singers and audiences to share.

Through Diane’s demanding baton and creative vision, and the singers' ceaseless dedication, Chor Leoni has become one of the world’s very best male choirs. We are men of many backgrounds, ranging from 17 to 70 years old, joined together in song.

We have ambitious plans for the future — to share our music widely, to stimulate new Canadian songs, and to inspire a new generation of young singers.

The Endowment: Enduring Support for Song

The Chor Leoni Men’s Choir Endowment Fund will be a treasure. The principal will never be spent and annual interest generated by the fund will provide an enduring base of financial security for the choir. The Vancouver Foundation will manage the fund.

This endowment will help Chor Leoni evolve and excel. We have never stood still for long – we don’t intend to now!

By supporting the endowment you will help us:

  • Commission new choral music – expanding the repertoire for men’s choirs around the world and providing opportunities for Canadian composers to create new work
  • Continue the PROMYS program (PROgram for Mentoring Young Singers) – bringing young singers into the Chor Leoni world where they can hone their talent and inspire audiences with their youthful energy
  • Tour and showcase Canada’s cultural excellence around the world
  • Produce CDs to share the power and beauty of choral music more widely
  • Attract the very best people to lead and manage Chor Leoni in the years to come
  • Lend our voices to the fundraising efforts of community organizations such as the Food Bank
  • Perform an astounding range of choral music, from capricious and whimsical to deeply solemn, beautiful and inspirational

Donors who give $5,000 or more will join the Conductor’s Circle and receive exclusive benefits and acknowledgment throughout the performance season.

Donations are fully tax-deductible and every single gift will help the endowment grow.
