HOPE

The 15th Annual Remembrance Day concert

November 10 & 11, 2007

Is our deep desire for peace and its actuality an impossibility? Chor Leoni chooses to explore this perplexing question in a concert that acknowledges the conflict around us, encourages us to HOPE and rediscover peace when it is absent. Join us as we explore this eternal quest in works by Beethoven, Chilcott, Lindberg, and more. HOPE features the world premiere of a new Remembrance Day work by Steven Sametz, poetry by Walt Whitman.

As we approach another Remembrance Day, named long ago to commemorate “the war to end all wars,” it is tempting to give in to despair. Is our deep desire for peace and its actuality an impossibility? That is the question Diane Loomer, C.M., artistic director of Chor Leoni Men’s Choir, has chosen to explore in HOPE, the opening concerts of the choir’s new season. ...

  • Young 'lions' add their voices to choir's tribute (November 8, 2007) For the average young man, choral singing doesn't even make it onto the coolness scale.
