Yuletide Fires

December 18 & 19, 2009

Step inside, away from the rain or snow, and gather around the warmth of Chor Leoni’s Yuletide Fires for a West Coast-inspired programme of seasonal beauty. Ancient Haida chant, newly composed carols and arrangements by BC composers Jonathan Quick, Stephen Smith, Larry Nickel and Don Macdonald will wrap you in light during this darkest time of the year and send you home refreshed for the upcoming holiday festivities.

"What do I hope for at Christmas time? A return to an elemental stillness; giving a welcome gift that's unexpected; finding our sense of wonder renewed. A wish to let everything fall away and return to a world of long ago where damp chills were dispelled with smell of pinelogs burning and fire aglow. Old carols sung with good friends, hearing familiar tunes and words, finding the present world falling away into a world that our ancestors knew and we now share. This is my hope for you for the holidays - this is what the choir and I hope to bring to you through our Yuletide Fire concerts. Come and share."
