In these times of financial turmoil it is sometimes good to sit back and contemplate things more celestial than just that latest depressing financial statement. Chor Leoni’s upcoming Meetin’ Here Tonight promises to do just that, with an array of music that speaks directly to one’s heart and soul.
 
“We’ve had repeated requests from our audience to present a concert of hymns, spirituals, and gospel,’ explains Diane Loomer, C.M., the choir’s leader. ‘So I sat down and googled ‘favourite hymns‚’ and got 564,000 hits! Obviously there’s a love of this music out there and we’re glad to be bringing these grand old melodies to our audience.”
 
Be it by using a simple Shaker melody, a venerable tune like 'Ebenezer', a rollicking gospel number, a moving spiritual, or a favourite from the Mennonite tradition,  Meetin' Here Tonight aims to excite, console, inspire and get your toes tapping along, too.
 
“The choir and I have put together an evening of favourite hymns, spirituals and foot stompin' soul songs," continues Diane.  “Bring your clappin' hands, your dancin'  feet and a couple of friends to Shaughnessy Heights United Church 'cause there's a Meetin' Here Tonight!  And yes – we’ll invite you to sing with us, too!"
 
Chor Leoni plans to present this repertoire on the choir’s next CD, also called Meetin‚ Here Tonight.
